A “stunning 15th-century vaulted barn venue with breathtaking panoramic views across rolling Cotswolds”, the Windmill (as was) announced it was under new ownership on 4 June 2024. That new owner was none other than pro-hunt and anti-badger celebrity farmer Jeremy Clarkson, who bought the pub for “chatting with regulars about ‘nothing of any consequence’, family Sunday roasts and Hawkestone beer on tap.” He renamed it the Farmer’s Dog and opened it in late August 2024. Perhaps it will host the Heythrop Hunt that Mr Clarkson has fundraised for…but whether or not it becomes a haunt for fox hunters, we do know that customers might be ‘lucky’ enough to bump into far-right former chairman of the British National Party (BNP) and ‘ Christian traditionalist & nationalist’ Nick Griffin and Griffin’s former ‘bodyguard’ Paul Telford. That whole ‘chatting about nothing of any consequence’ takes on a whole new meaning, really…
