According to CAMRA, The Trotter Inn is “An unspoilt country pub, somewhat off the beaten track although actually quite close to main the [sic] Cheddar to Wedmore road”. Certainly not too off the beaten track not to be known by the former Weston and Banwell Harriers who met there in November 2023. Somerset Sabs wrote on their Facebook page that “We teamed up with our friends Mendip Hunt Sabs and found the hunt eating and drinking outside The Trotter Inn pub, Crickham. With 14 riders, including hunt staff, this would have been a good turnout for these dregs of society.” The poor turnout would explain why packs in this part of the world are folding into each other at a dizzying pace: the already merged West Somerset Vale/Weston and Banwell Harriers merged with the Taunton Vale Harriers in mid-2025 to become the Vale of Taunton & Banwell Harriers.
