What does it take to be listed as ‘supporting’ a hunt? In the case of Simon Mitchell Photography, who is namechecked as a supporter on the Thurlow Hunt’s ‘Contact’ page alongside the Thurlow Estate, Countryside Alliance and Pointing East Anglia, apparently not that much. Mr Mitchell’s moribund Facebook page gives no indication at all of his ‘support’ for the Thurlow. One gallery tucked away on IMPGraphics is titled ‘Thurlow Hunt March 2024’ but is little more than a series of shots of the same rider on a grey clearing a fence. The Thurlow page doesn’t even link to any of Mr Mitchell’s work. It’s all a bit half-hearted really, and we’re led to ask whether the ‘relationship’ between the Thurlow and Mr Mitchell is pretty much one-sided with the hunt benefitting more from its seeming endorsement by a good photographer than vice-versa…perhaps Mr Mitchell would like to clarify?
