Gibbon Farms, based near Colchester, consists of property, general haulage, and “a full sugar beet service, which includes drilling, harvesting, loading and haulage.” According to Tenpenny Villages UK, “Every year, Thorrington Hall Woods are kindly open up to the public by the Gibbon family who look after the woods and run the farm.” That would be out of shooting ‘season’, as the family also run a shoot which “has been progressed into a syndicate, shooting every Tuesday and Friday in a very relaxed atmosphere, with much friendly banter amongst those present.” So important to have a good laugh while you’re gunning down birds…The farm also appears to host a regular meet of the Essex and Suffolk Hunt, as this is where Suffolk Action for Wildlife found them in September 2024 and again in February 2025.
