Like every other ‘country show’ the Bucks County Show declares itself “one of the best one day agricultural shows in the country and claims to be “one of Buckinghamshire’s main summer attractions.” Like so many of these summer shows, it features cattle, sheep, and equine classes – and like so many other Shows it also supports hunting. On its website, set next to an image of a hound pack, the Show parrots the lie about how hunts are integral to the “sporting rural community and its social fabric” (as surveys repeatedly confirm, hunts are despised by rural and urban residents in equal numbers). The Bucks Show is giving THREE hunts – the Kimblewick Hounds, the Bicester and Wadden Hunt, and the hare-hunting Old Berkeley Beagles – the opportunity to parade in front of the public in 2025. Shows like these help promote hunts during the weeks before cubbing and levereting starts again.
