“A privately owned freehouse nestled in the heart of the South Downs…steeped in history, Badgers was previously known as The Railway Inn in the late 1800’s and was the old charabanc stop on the way to Goodwood racecourse.” Badgers, according to its website, is in an ‘Idyllic Location’ and ‘surrounded by a vast variety of attractions’ – so of course what better than to go out into that ‘idyll’ and shoot birds…Under ‘Local Attractions’ the Badgers suggests ‘Pheasant Shooting‘ proudly re-stating that the pub is “Nestled within the stunning South Downs National Park” and thus “located in prime pheasant shooting countryside.” Indeed, in Britain what else are National Parks and ‘unspoilt countryside’ good for except shooting non-native birds on a fun day out…
