Anscombe & Hay Bars aim “to provide an affordable and personal tailored service to suit your requirements for any event big or small. We cater for weddings, parties, corporate functions and shows/event across Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.” Their reviews are good and they undoubtedly provide a great service. That service was extended to a fundraiser for the Vale of White Horse Hunt in January 2024 (the VWH was exposed by a Hunt Investigation Team undercover operation to be illegally hunting on another VWH member’s land in 2022). Hunts hiring them will no doubt be delighted with the mobile ‘face in a hole board’ promoted in their gallery which depicts a cartoon image of a huntswoman and huntsman being served by a ‘busty’ horse. The ‘Hay’ in Anscombe and Hay Bars is Angus Hay who was photographed at the Cheltenham Hunt Ball in 2014, showing he’s a long-time hunt supporter, and who was listed as the contact for the VWH Supporters Club in a 2020 flyer from the Vale of White Horse Hunt. He is also General Manager of Bibury Trout Farm, which in August 2025 was featured in The Guardian in a report that Animal Equality UK “has released video footage that it claims shows fish being repeatedly beaten with batons, mishandled and left to suffocate by untrained members of the public including a child” at the Farm…
