“The Christow Show is held in a field nestled in the heart of the Teign Valley surrounded by beautiful scenery…” Pretty much your average small ‘country show’, with Galleries full of photographs of tractors and produce – but oddly enough not photographs of the Britannia Beagles, a hare hunting pack based at Dartmouth College, that has been regularly allowed to parade their dogs and talk nonsense about hunting within the law to a paying audience who – as the supporter who emailed us about the hunt’s attendance – had no idea they would be there. The importance of shows like this to hunting was proved when after one 2025 show was disrupted by kennel cough, the Countryside Alliance Hunting Facebook feed posted “The West of England Hound Show is one of the highlights of the summer hunting calendar and we hope that the hunting community will continue to support the show this year…”. The Christow Show will know this, and it’s a shame it persists in stubbornly promoting hunting to its visitors without openly saying so on its website…
