The East of England Showground (also known as the East of England Arena and Events Centre) is a large venue located in Peterborough. It’s owned by Bellway and includes a motorcycle speedway stadium. The showground is now the subject of plans for a leisure development. Unfortunately, while plans were being developed, a major fundraiser for hunting, The Festival of Hounds (formerly named the Festival of Hunting) was still scheduled to take place in July 2025. It is organised by the East of England Agricultural Society. George Bowyer, formerly joint master of the Fitzwilliam Hunt and chair of Vote-OK which campaigned for an end to the ban on foxhunting. is a director of the East of England Agricultural Society (Companies House lists him as a ‘political consultant). A main sponsor of the ‘festival’ is the Countryside Alliance. In 2024, 23 packs of Modern Foxhounds and 12 packs of Old English Foxhounds attended, but the ‘schedule’ for the 2025 show was password-protected…
