Owned by the iTap Group, GunsOnPegs has apparently “become the go-to website for game shooting enthusiasts to fill their sporting calendar”. Founded by Chris Horne (who joined the Board of the Countryside Alliance in 2020 for a three-year term) GunsOnPegs describes itself as “opening up a world of effortless opportunity for shooting enthusiasts” and says “from pheasant shooting to stalking, we’ve got you covered” (terms including the word ‘shoot’ litter the entire site). Clearly flustered by the Labour government, the site claims grandiosely that “the future of our lifestyle has never been under greater threat than it is today. We’re doing all we can to make sure the freedoms of the countryside are here for generations to come.” That threat more likely comes from the vast majority of the public who don’t support a ‘lifestyle’ that involves putting bullet holes into birds and describing it as ‘a fun day out’.
