WildLuing is a family business set up on the small island of Luing to the south of Oban offering “8 luxury self-catering WildSuites looking out over otters and seals in Torsa bay”. Under ‘Sustainability‘ their website lists “nest boxes on 50% of the sites buildings” to encourage local birds and “how they are building a bird hide on the water’s edge to promote birdwatching”, yet under ‘Land‘ they are promoting the Isle of Luing Shoot “a recently established pheasant and partridge shoot with additional wildfowling, duck flighting and snipe & woodcock shooting”. Neither pheasants nor partridges are native to the UK (let alone Luing), and Snipe are Amber listed in the UK as a bird of conservation concern and Woodcock are Red listed in the UK after suffering huge declines.
