Oxfordshire-based “Warwickshire Christmas Tree Farm [WCTF] is a small family run farm in the Cotswolds” operated by a “father and son who run two businesses; a Swimming Pool Maintenance service in the summer and a Christmas tree farm in the winter!” WCTF found themselves in a bit of bother when on 08 October Warwickshire Hunt Watch pointed out that the business allowed the notorious Warwickshire Hunt “to use land owned by them to illegally hunt foxes”, a poor decision which the Farm compounded when they went online claiming the hunt was just ‘trail hunting’ and acting within the law. Which would be amusing if it wasn’t so palpably incorrect. Interestingly, activist pressure paid, and just days later WCTF wrote to the Warwickshire Hunt withdrawing permission. Whether the ‘sorry, we were forced into this’ apology to the Hunt is enough to put WTCF back on your Christmas card list is a decision for you, of course, but we will be looking elsewhere…
