“Towthorpe Manor is a family run driven game shoot, Situated in Yorkshire’s East Riding near Driffield, the attractive Wolds countryside is dissected by the rolling fields, woodland and deep sided valleys, enabling the presentation of testing pheasants and partridges…Towthorpe Manor is the family home of the Megginson family who are all involved in the running of the shoot.” The dormant Facebook page for the Manor (last updated 2017) appears to have been replaced by the usual overblown listing on Guns On Pegs, which waffles on about how attractive the countryside is and those ‘testing pheasants’. The pheasant killing ‘season’ ends on the last day of January. Which – along with a seemingly unquenchable desire to end the lives of local animals – might explain why York Hunt Sabs found the notorious Middleton Hunt meeting at Towthorpe Manor in February 2025 just a few weeks later…
