The pub’s own website was suffering from a ‘critical error’ when we visited to select a little bio info, but a report in the pro-hunt Irish Field (02 January 2026) helped fill in the blanks. The report focused on a North Tipperary Foxhounds hunt on St Stephen’s Day 2025 during which foxes were terrorised by hunters and a pack of 25 dogs. According to the Irish Field, “hunt parking was across the road from the Thatch pub” and the pub was “buzzing with hunt followers, many already in their hunting gear”. After the hunt, “a refuelling stop at the Thatch seemed in order” and “like the proper centre of hospitality that it is, the management had a smashing hunting supper for all those who took part”. It’s clear where your ethics lie when you reward a bunch of animal abusers with a slap-up meal, eh…
