It might be stating the obvious, but hunts love to hunt where there is wildlife – and that includes national parks like the North York Moors, Exmoor, Dartmoor…and the Brecon Beacons. The Tanners Arms in Defynogg is “Nestled in the northern foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park” and is often described as a ‘hunt pub’: that would be because it is a favoured watering-hole and meet of the Sennybridge Farmers who have their kennels just down the road from the Tanners. South Wales Hunt Sabs found the Farmers at the Tanners in February 2025 for an ‘end of season’ meet: “There were three riders, two of whom weโ€™ve not seen before โ€“ they must have come for the glamour. It was 11.30am before they could tear themselves away from the drinks tray and head off south from the meet.”
