The Royal Oak is in “the beautiful village of Winsford” and lies within the heart of Exmoor National Park. The national park tolerates all sorts of hunting and shooting, and the Royal Oak clearly want a part of the revenue that comes with that. The pub welcomes and encourages shoots to stay/dine/drink and the owner even recently procured the ‘village’ recreation field to start landing helicopters bringing in shooters from London. So accommodating is the Royal Oak that shooting website GunsOnPegs gave it a ‘Highly Commended’ Award (sponsored by the Gattertop Drinks Co) in 2022.
