“The Pheasant sits between Halstead and Sudbury…set in the middle of rural countryside, ideal for long walks…the new owners have completely redecorated the pub restaurant since purchasing it in the summer of 2025.” Those new owners – ‘local businessmen‘ – have done more than redecorate – they have also decided to allow the notorious Puckeridge and Essex Union Hunt to meet there in February 2026, as detailed on Facebook by the Sussex and Essex Hunt Sabs. That would be the same hunt noted for its violence and which was given a Community Protection Notice by Herts Police. As always, there are other hotels in the area for us pro-wildlife folk to visit if we’re in the area…
