The Old Inn (Devon)

“Hospitality with a Personal Touch…At The Old Inn Pub, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional service with a personal touch…Our commitment to our guests is unwavering, and we strive to provide a friendly and quaint environment.” All of which doesn’t actually say very much as few venues will ever write “Our service is awful and we hate our guests” – but it is still grating to learn that all that ‘exceptional service’ is being lavished on a hunt and that the venue will apparently open for New Years Day breakfast specifically for a hunt (even it is a relatively insignificant hunt like the Cotley which has its kennels just up the road in Bewley Down). The pub’s largesse received a very exuberant ‘thanks’ on social media from someone who must rarely get out into the Devon countryside where hunts are almost impossible to miss: ‘Wow – what an experience seeing the hunt’. Not the reaction the local wildlife would be likely to have shared…
