The Nabs Head (with no apostrophe) is “a beautiful village pub based in the heart of Samlesbury“. The pub prides itself rather strangely “on offering a great variety of refreshments” (which is surely the point of a pub?) and says “We enjoy visits from all the family so your furry friends are always welcome.” Cat lovers of Preston and surroundings rejoice, perhaps? Possibly not because in August the pub gave a warm welcome to the Holcombe Harriers/Hunt, a pack who urged supporters to Vote Tory to save Hunting at a 2024 New Years Meet down the road at the already listed Red Lion in Wheelton – and August is cub hunting time, after all, and not a good time for many of our  ‘furry friends’ to be about and about…The very next day the Holcombe were complaining bitterly (again) about plans to ban trail hunting, explaining that people are confused because “We have retained our heritage by continuing to wear our traditional hunt dress and use the hunting horn to communicate with the hounds and the hunt officials.” Who can blame us, what with all that chasing around, assaults on sabs and monitors, and the ‘accidental’ killing of foxes, eh…
