“The village of Southwick is steeped in history and culture and at the heart sits the Golden Lion…A family-run business for over 10 years with industry experience of over 20 years, our focus on customer service is second to none, you couldn’t be in better hands.” The Hursley Hambledon Hunt would agree with that latter sentiment about customer service, because (as locals tell us) when the hunt met on Southwick Green just around the corner from the pub, drinks were served and the hunt master’s speech thanked the Golden Lion for their hospitality and Southwick Estate for allowing the hunt to use the entirety of their estate. It’s worth noting that despite claims of ‘trail hunting’ just a few hours after the meet at the Golden Lion, the Hursley Hambledon Hunt was recorded by South Hampshire Hunt Sabs killing a deer on the Southwick Estate – illegally killing wildlife is something else that needs to be added to the ‘history and culture’ of Southwick village apparently…
