“A stunning local family friendly pub on the North Yorkshire coast, 0.6 miles away from the beautiful Robin Hood’s Bay…In our spacious restaurant and garden area we can accommodate you, your children and your four legged friends.” Sounds friendly enough, but a Facebook post in February 2025 thanking the ‘wonderful local shoot’ for the business they bring perhaps shows where their interest lies. Support for shooting is par for the course for North Yorkshire, a county which is renowned as the worst in England for raptor persecution, but at least potential non-shooting clientele/tourists to this part of the world have been given a clear steer about what the Fylingdales management thinks about blowing birds out of the air…
