“Rangel the Landlord and his friendly team would love to welcome you to their small cosy village pub…With the assistance of our wine supplier and feedback from our valued customers, we have an excellent choice of wines that are of great value and exceptional quality to go with any dish you may choose from our food menu.” Exceptional quality, eh? Which might well explain why (as Midlands Action Against Foxhunting reported) the Quorn Hunt were so excited in December 2024 to have a “champagne breakfast served with drinks supplied by the Fox and Hounds” before they went charging ‘bevied up’ out across the Leicestershire countryside persecuting the local wildlife. It is illegal to be ‘drunk in charge of a horse’, but it’s not something that police forces appear especially interested in, even when the hunt flags it up on Facebook. In the same month (December 2024) Northants Hunt Sabs reported that the same pub also hosted a meet of the notoriously violent Cottesmore Hunt, whose hired thugs terrorised their sabs earlier this year.
