The Bucks Head hosts the traditional Boxing Day meet of the Hursley Hambledon Hunt. Local press rather chillingly reported in January 2024 that after Georgina Bastian, a Master of The Hursley Hambledon Hunt, took the Stirrup Cup in the pub car park, “Huntsman Andrew Jopson and Whipper-in Kieran Hawkes then led the hunt up Bucks Head Hill and onto Rectory Lane before heading into the open Hampshire countryside”. The Hunt were back at the Bucks Head in December 2024 for what the MeonValley Times called a ‘traditional hunt meet’, which took place just three days after a vicious assault on South Thames Hunt Sabs. The hunt were back on Boxing Day 2025 when a young girl – who we have to hope has little idea of what the blood-soaked history of hunting – came dressed as fox. Hunters, they’re so fuunnnyyyy…
