“We believe our Pub has a great atmosphere and one that will make you come back time and time again. Our philosophy is very simple; people arrive at the Angel Inn as visitors and leave as friends.” Especially, it would seem, if you’re part of the David Davies Hunt Boxing Day meet when the pub will supply its friends with ‘punch, mulled wine, and mince pies’ before the latter go off in search of the local wildlife…though oddly the pub’s website doesn’t mention this largesse. The Guardian featured a meet at The Angel way back in the pre-Hunting Act of 2001, in which Lord Davies (who apparently didn’t think a ban was coming) outlined local attitudes: “Farmers round here really do mind if you don’t keep the foxes down.” And we’re all supposed to believe things have changed since then…
