Terence Lambert is an extraordinarily talented painter, who says he has “painted birds almost exclusively for 30 years, illustrating the British list three times for various publications, together with a host of foreign species.” To choose to paint birds over such a long period requires a keen eye and empathy for your subject, surely? Difficult to say when Mr Lambert’s sculptures are prominently displayed at Bettws Hall, the site of one the largest intensive pheasant and partridge rearing operations in the UK, producing vast numbers of birds for its shooting clients, as well as hosting shooting parties. An expensively produced pdf explains the association between bird painter and bird shooting servicer more clearly.
