Tanners Wine Merchants has seven stores in Shropshire/Herefordshire. “Good traditional service is what the Tanners is about, but ‘traditional’ in the best sense of the word.” ‘Traditional in the best sense’? Tanners’ Sales Director, Robert Boutflower, is a longtime master of the Shropshire Beagles – a ‘traditional’ hare killing pack who still say on their Facebook page ‘our quarry is hare’. Tanners supported the North Shropshire Hunt’s ‘Ladies Day’ in February 2025 (leading Shropshire Against Blood Sports to say “Shame on the businesses supporting this illegal blood sport. Not surprised by two of them as they have directors that are also a NS hunt master and a Shropshire beagle master”) and also supplied wine for the notorious Wynnstay Hunt’s 2025 Spring Ball (ie fundraiser) – they were tagged in an Instagram post by the ‘ball’s’ caterers Get Gourmet.
