Run by AT and TF Johnson, Stokes Marsh is a “4th generation cattle farm spanning over 90 years. Supplying the best quality beef at the highest ethical standards. Renewable energy producer…” Ethical, renewable, etc etc, yet as proven by a report by Salisbury Plain Hunt Sabs also willing to host a cubbing meet of the notorious Royal Artillery Hunt (RAH) in September 2024 (presumably now that the RAH have finally been refused licences to chase wildlife on Salisbury Plain by the MOD): “The Royal Artillery hunt were blatantly cubbing at 7.30 am behind electric gates, with no access, in this fortified farm. This time, we dread to think what happened to our wildlife this morning and go to bed with heavy hearts. Shame on you, Stoke Marsh Farm and all your customers.” Customers including Walter Rose & Son, who says Stokes Marsh Farm has a “commitment to environmental stewardship.” Local fox cubs beg to differ…Oh, and so might local badgers. Under a post on the Trading Standards South West website titled “Farmer fined for Animal Health Act offence” we find that Timothy Johnson, of Stokes Marsh Farm, admitted an offence under the Animal Health Act 1981, was personally fined £2,000 at Swindon Magistrates Court, and the company of which he is a director – THF Johnson Ltd – was fined £15,000 and ordered to pay full costs of £3,460 to Wiltshire Council. At the time of the offence the farm was under TB restrictions. The court took into account previous convictions of the company in 2012 and 2014 for similar offences.” Ethical standards, you say…
