“An idyllic haven tucked away amid beautiful grounds…a unique Irish wedding venue…whether you’re looking for a romantic weekend away, a corporate retreat or a distinctive wedding venue, our Country House Hotel is the perfect choice.” Sadly for any pro-wildlife folk looking to get married or have a romantic weekend behind the hotel’s striking red door, this ‘idyllic haven’ is also a meet for the Duhallow Hunt, a fact not listed on a page of Local Activities (or anywhere else on the hotel’s website). However, in December 2023 in yet another glowing pro-hunt article, The Irish Field featured the hunt in front of the hotel, writing “Springfort Hall, a fine old country house just north of Mallow, took on a new role last Saturday when they hosted a meet of the dashing Duhallow“. New? Hardly. A quick internet search reveals that the hotel regularly hosts a fundraising ball for the Duhallow and has apparently done so since at least 2011. On a side note, one of the hunters in the photograph is Fianna Fail councillor Pat Hayes, chairman of the Irish Masters of Foxhounds Association and owner of the ‘outdoors sports’ store Country Lifestyle (which we have already listed) which is a short drive away.
