Somerford Show Ground (part of Great Somerford – the ‘great’ is part of the name of a rather small Wiltshire village) hosted the Somerford Show in both 2023 and 2024, which it described as “A real family day out with something for everyone. Horse and pony classes, dog show, trade stands, fair rides, duck race and horticultural competitions.” The website hasn’t been updated since August 2024, but while the Somerford Show might be moribund, the Showground is still in use. Cirencester Illegal Hunt Watch found the notorious Vale of White Horse Hunt meeting at the Show Ground in February 2025, reporting that “When we arrived the hunt were making their way to the Somerford Show Ground to partake in boozy drinks before setting out to terrorise the local wildlife.” During the meet, the hunt chased a fox, trespassed on Forestry England land, and swore at sabs and monitors.
