Visitors to the Sherborne Castle Estate, home of the Wingfield Digby family, may be looking forward to enjoying the buildings and Capability Brown-designed Gardens and yet be totally unaware that the Estate is also home to the Honeycombe Shoot which covers nearly 4,000 acres of the Sherborne Castle Estate and promises its clients “French [Red-legged] and English [Grey] partridges, pheasants and we even had woodcock [Red listed in the UK as in danger of extinction] and snipe [Amber listed in the UK as a species of conservation concern] later in the season”. Unaware because the shoot isn’t mentioned and doesn’t even turn up in a ‘search’ of the estate’s website.
