Built by the grandson of the founder of the Thomas Cook travel empire who according to the Park’s own website “came to Norfolk to indulge his tastes for shooting” (which is just a slightly pretty way of saying he enjoyed killing birds), Sennowe Park is not open to the general public but “offers a unique and magical venue for weddings and other events…To the discerning visitor Sennowe can also provide luxurious accommodation in a grand country house style.” It certainly provided accommodation (though in ‘style’ is debatable) to the now disbanded North Norfolk Harriers, which were kennelled at Sennowe. The house also hosted the same Hunt’s Boxing Day meet for many years. A series of very recent photographs sent to us of a pheasant release pen and feeders in a remote part of the estate suggests that the shooting so beloved by Sennowe’s original tenant is still taking place.
