There isn’t much online about S D Fencing. That’s because owner Sion Davies, a terrier man with the Llanwnnen Farmers Hunt, took his once semi-active Facebook page down – but not before the team at UK Animal Cruelty Files grabbed a screenshot (kudos!). Why would he do that? Well, because he’s just been convicted of a serious wildlife crime. Should you be thinking of hiring this man, it’s worth knowing first that he pleaded guilty to interfering with a badger sett in January 2024, using a firearm to kill a badger, and to willfully killing a badger (badgers are of course fully protected by law). In fact, and more prosaically, as South Wales Hunt Saboteurs reported along with fellow terrierman Gwynli Edwards “when the hunt was in the Esgairdawe area, Edwards and Davis blocked the entrances of a 21-hole badger sett, sent a terrier into the sett and when a badger emerged, Davis shot it. Gwynli Edwards then dragged the badger’s body down a hill before throwing it into a nearby bog.” Still thinking of hiring S D Fencing? How about if we add that Davis is “known locally for his harsh and cruel treatment of animals at his farm, as well as being a hunt terrier man.” No, we thought not…
