“Roundthorn Country House is one of the best Penrith Hotels. This Grade II Listed Georgian Mansion is privately owned and set in its own landscaped grounds.” (One of the best in Penrith?  Okay, then). The Roundthorn is a regular setting for weddings (and nominated in something called the ‘Country Brides North West Wedding Awards‘) and gives great views over the Lakeland Fells – which happen to be the home of some of the most lawless hunts in the whole of England: for example, the Melbreak, the Blencathra, and the Ullswater. And it was the latter that sent out invitations to a fundraiser at the Roundthorn in March 2024, an event the ‘country house’ seems to have not mentioned on their own Facebook page but which the internet has archived anyway. White gowns and blood-smeared jackets set next to each other, how’s that for an award-winnning look Country Brides?
