It’s not immediately clear exactly what family-owned Roden & Son do – Mr Roden objected to us saying ‘loft conversions’ which was a direct lift from Cylex UK, an online business listings database (it’s project managing bespoke private houses, according to an email from Mr Roden himself) – and determining whether owner Nic Roden is any good at his business is even harder to work out as there seems to be few reviews available. There is one on an old Facebook page for the business which simply says “Owner supports fox hunting and trolls pages that expose law breaking hunts. Avoid.” which isn’t a comment on his building skills but is true as the attached image (taken from an anti-hunt group site trolled by Mr Roden in December 2024) proves. A visit to his personal Facebook page, though, shows Mr Roden reposting pro-trophy hunting links (eg The trophy hunting industry in Africa is dying and, and that should concern all of us” in December 2024), deer-stalling links, and supporting BASC and shooting ducks and geese. Nothing illegal in that, of course, but potential pro-wildlife clients may like to know. In an email sent in February 2025, Mr Roden says that in “one of the reviews you put up it says I keep terriers which I don’t”. We’ve never mentioned terriers at all, but as Mr Roden doesn’t deny anything we’ve actually written, what the heck, we’re happy to clear that up…
