Ripley Castle and Gardens was put up for sale in June 2024, just two years after Mark Eddon took on the ‘sporting lease’ from Frank Boddy promising he “will be carrying on in the same traditional manner with a relaxed and leisurely pace to each day allowing guns to take in the fantastic setting and surroundings of Ripley Castle.” Sept 2024 shoots listed on GunsOnPegs suggest the targets will be ‘partridge’ (presumably non-native Red-legged) and ‘duck’ (typically intensively-reared Mallard). According to Companies House Mr Eddon is also Director of NORTH YORKSHIRE PHEASANTRIES LIMITED and SPORTING SITUATIONS LTD – neither of which appear to have an online presence or much in the way of turnover.
