As Midlands Pointing announced in January 2025, “The Midlands Point-to-point season comes under orders this weekend as the South Wold welcomes us to Revesby Park… for a six-race meeting which includes a point-to-point flat race.” Point to Points are built around keeping hunts in the public eye. According to the British Horseracing Society, Point-to-Point Steeple Chases are for horses owned and ridden by members of an affiliated Hunt. A fixture can either be arranged by a Hunt or group of Hunts. Hunting’s ‘friendly face’ they often feature a dog show and are recruiting vehicles for hunts. They are often heavily sponsored by hunt-supporting businesses. As Gloucester Races puts it, “the Point-to-Point provides a great opportunity for the hunt to say thank you to the farmers and landowners whose land they cross throughout the year. It’s the hunts way of ‘putting a little bit back’.” As the attached screenshot shows the ‘Revesby Races’ are organised by the South Wold Hunt, which are kennelled just up the road near Horncastle, and take place in Revesby Park – where not coincidentally Lincoln Hunt Saboteurs found the South Wold as they ‘openly hunted’ the Park at their opening meet in November 2024.
