The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) is renowned (in activist circles at least) “for rowdy behaviour and a heavy drinking culture”. As we said in a Protect the Wild post after students tied a dead fox to a car bonnet as part of a fundraiser, it is a “hothouse for hot-headed ‘young farmers’ who will carry their appalling lack of empathy and self-awareness into the wider countryside.” Back to the subject of this listing though. The RAU Equestrian Centre, based at RAU Fosse Hill Lodge, is “the home of the Royal Agricultural University equine enterprise, situated in glorious Cotswold countryside and within easy reach of the main University campus.” Add horses, RAU, and Cotswolds together and what do you get? Hunting, as a Facebook post from September 2024 captioned “Successful mornings Autumn Hunting for Alice and Clover with the VWH [Vale of White Horse Hunt], one of the few meets we hold here at Fosse Hill during the season” proves.
