“Discover Powderham, for fun family days, cultural moments, adventures and mindful escapes…For the last 5 decades Powderham has opened the gates for Classic Car Shows, Family Adventure Festivals, Garden Festivals, Food Festivals, Dog Shows and Sporting Events.” ‘Dog Shows and Sporting Events’ in this part of the world often mean hunting, and Powderham is indeed steeped in the nasty business. Owned by Charles Courtenay, the 19th Earl of Devon, and his family, the Powderham Castle/Estate regularly hosts both the South Devon Hunt and the Stoke Hill and North Dartmoor Beagles, as well as accommodating their events and fundraisers. Recent examples include: Stoke Hill and North Dartmoor Beagles Fun Ride 2026South Devon Hunt Ladies Day 2026 (the inaugural ‘Ladies Day’ was held in 2024); “An evening withDaniel Crane at Powderham Castle” in 2023 reportedly was an “exhibition of originals and prints for sale by the celebrated sporting, racing and military artist” which raised “a significant sum in support of the Hunt”.
