Plas Dinam is “a truly unique wedding venue…the only problem is that you might fall in love with it”. Visitors, vacationers, glampers, brides…and of course shooters. Oddly the website makes no obvious mention of its connections with shooting, the huge Bettws Hall shoot or its intensive pheasant and partridge rearing operation – but there is actually a whole page dedicated to it that doesn’t appear to be linked through the site’s menu. Check out https://www.plasdinamcountryhouse.co.uk/shooting/ though and all the information a shooter needs is there, from exclusive use of the whole house, a drying room, and a private chef. Even an assurance that Bettws Hall “run the shoot on the Plas Dinam estate”. The estate even has its own hunt kenneled on site – the David Davies, named after the father of the former occupant of Plas Dinam, the late Lord David Davies who died in 2024 and was huntmaster of the eponymous hunt for sixty years. A glowing tribute in the Powys Times noted that “Everyone who has enjoyed hunting these hounds owes him a huge debt of gratitude. Quite simply the hunt would not survive without him.” The British Hound Sports Association noted Lord Davies had hunted for 83 years. Lady Eldrydd Lamp, his daughter, is Hunt Master.
