“A traditional pub…offering superb dining, wine and real ales…we have built an enviable reputation providing attentive, friendly service to our customers.” That ‘friendly service’ certainly appeared to be the case when the Old White Hart welcomed the notorious and violent Cottesmore Hunt in November 2024. We could say that perhaps the pub doesn’t know the history of the Cottesmore, about the violent ‘security’ they hired to assault members of Northants Hunt Sabs, the arrest of a huntsman in 2023 – but given that the Cottesmore is the ‘local’ hunt, their kennels are up the road on a farm in Ashwell, and that Northants Hunt Sabs say they were “met with abuse by the owners of the Old White Hart” when they held a peaceful demonstration outside the pub, they clearly knew what they were doing…
