“Old Buckenham Hall School is a day and boarding preparatory school with pre-prep for boys and girls in the village of Brettenham, Suffolk…Rugby, cricket, hockey, football, netball, rounders, tennis, golf, squash, riding, shooting, sailing and more sports are all enjoyed by OBH pupils.” The school was rated Good in a 2023 Ofsted visit, and if a parent has around £11k a term to spare then a child can be boarded. That’s not what interests us here, though, what we are focused is on how a business might be connected with hunting with hounds or shooting live targets (the ‘shooting’ enjoyed by pupils is presumably target shooting?). In this case the Safeguarding/Pastoral Governor (Chair) for Old Buckenham Hall School, Sally Greenless, is also a Master of the Essex and Suffolk Hunt…a hunt that seems to have connections all over Suffolk…and who was quoted in Horse & Hound back in May 2002 at protests on the planned ban on hunting: “What the government does not understand is that hunting and shooting pays for the countryside to look as beautiful as it does.”
