The Lygon Arms “is the oldest Coaching Inn in Chipping Campden with trading records dating back to the 16th Century.” The Lygon says “There is some confusion over the date that the name became “The Lygon Arms”, However, in 1837 an old document refers to “The Hare and Hounds, now called the Lygon” – the Inn is proud to continue providing traditional country style 4-star accommodation.” Traditional? Regular users of this site will suspect that somehow involves hunting and/or shooting. They would be right, because the pub hosts the North Cotswold Hunt which with ludicrous self-importance describes themselves on their website as ‘Conserving the Cotswolds’.
