Lycetts is “one of the UK’s leading independently-operated insurance brokers. We specialise in farm and estate insurance but also provide bespoke financial services, commercial and bloodstock insurance advice… Most of our 16 offices across the UK are situated in rural or market town locations and we are continually looking at ways to grow our business.” Started in 1961, Lycetts has typically grown by acquisitions, especially in the bloodstock sectors, and have offices throughout England and Scotland. While Lycetts itself may not be of much interest to many visitors here, one of the Directors of the Charlbury (Oxon) office is Christopher Cox – who has also been a Director of the Oxfordshire-based Heythrop Hunt since May 2012. Coincidentally in 2012 the Heythrop became the first hunt convicted as a corporate body under the Hunting Act after an investigation by the RSPCA. They were caught by Three Counties Sabs tearing up a fox cub in September 2023. Cox is also a Director of a Gloucestershire-based insurer called Lycett, Browne-Swinburne & Douglas: the BHSA (hunting’s so-called ‘governing body’, which claims to be “Preserving, Protecting, Promoting the future of Hounds and Hunts”) is an Appointed Representative.
