“The Longlands Inn is adjacent to Lancaster Canal and Tewitfield Marina providing a wonderful countryside location…There is so much to see and do in the area you will be spoilt for choice during your stay here with us.” Like chasing wildlife around that ‘wonderful countryside’ perhaps? Longlands hosted the 2024 Boxing Day meet of the Vale of Lune Harriers, a pack that proudly state on their website that “Hounds still meet twice a week in the hunting season which normally runs from September to the end of February. Westmorland, Cumbria, and the Lake District have long been famous for hunting. Fox, Stag, and hare have been hunted for over 250 years by farmers and landowners in this part of the world.” They also say under a page on ‘Etiquette’ on the Vale of Lune Harriers website says, “The major concern of people wishing to hunt for the first time seems to be a fear of wearing or doing the wrong thing.” The ‘wrong thing’ like hunting illegally and pissing off vast swathes of the public? It’s odd that a modern hotel would want to be associated with that…
