Owned and operated by Barry Robinson for nearly 30 years, “Longlands is a fully refurbished 4* Inn and restaurant with 6 luxury stone-built self-catering cottages and a blend of 11 modern spacious and more traditional cosy rooms…being a stone’s throw away from The National Lake District, the Trough of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales we really do have it all…”. Including a really warm welcome for the Vale of Lune Harriers, a pack based just a 15 minute drive away in Hornby. At least they have done for several decades, right up to Boxing Day 2023 when they were listed on the website of the pro-hunting lobby group Countryside Alliance under ‘Boxing Day’ meets…Oddly, there seems to be no mention of the hunt anywhere on the Hotel’s website (as of November 2024). Given the place has been owned by the same family for ‘nearly 30 years’ and they welcomed the hunt in the recent past (referring to the meet as ‘The Longlands’ calendar event of the year” in 2017) have they decided that being linked with hunting is just not worth the hassle, or are they trying to keep their passion for supporting hunting a little more secret? We will update this listing when we find out…
