“Kettle’s Country House 4 Star Hotel is one of North County Dublin’s most elegant and charming family boutique hotels…Kettle’s combines 4 star luxury with elegance and tradition.” Kettle’s would like everyone to know it’s a ‘4 star’ venue. It is also keen to let everyone know it’s wants to grab a slice of the ‘hunt fundraiser action’. The hotel’s website makes clear that “Whether you’re planning a corporate gathering, private party…our team ensures it’s a success from start to finish”, but in March 2025 on Facebook the pitch was more overt: “Looking for the Perfect Venue for Your Next Dinner Dance or Hunt Ball? Step into timeless elegance with the Rosanne Suite — the ideal setting for black-tie evenings, formal dinners, hunt balls, and charity galas.” Kettle’s hosted the Fingal Harriers Hunt ball in February 2024 and February 2025. During the hunting season, the Fingal Harriers terrorise foxes on Wednesdays and Saturdays in North County Dublin and County Meath, and in November 2024 it was filmed coming out of the Kettle’s car park. Hunt balls are fundraisers for hunts, and – shamefully – fox hunting is still legal across Ireland: given that Kettle’s already supports the Fingal Harriers but are still advertising for (other?) hunts, it seems fair to ask just how supportive of animal abuse this venue is?
