A chic holiday rental business, Kate & Tom’s (run by Thomas Foster, according to Companies House), has bright fonts and quirky descriptions: “Our holiday houses come loaded with everything you need for an amazing stay. From swimming pools and saunas to hot tubs and home cinemas. Dog friendly houses, tennis courts – and even a private railway.” It’s unlikely the business would have ever come to our notice here on bloodbusiness.info had a supporter not drawn our attention to the description for Westmorland Lodge: “Shoot or don’t shoot. Westmorland Lodge is a classic Cumbrian country-sports retreat for 40 that’ll keep your trigger-finger happy or your soul singing…Even if the only shooting comes from your shutter…you’ll enjoy a fully enclosed, two-acre shooting estate for (unlimited) dogs to explore and kids to let off steam.” Killing wildlife just isn’t funny or something to write supposedly playful copy about, and this sounds like an all-too-knowing and very lame pitch at both the Insta crowd and the shooting tourist. Either way, it falls flat with us, and our supporters will presumably feel the same way…
