“Self catering holiday cottages for your dog and you in North Cornwall…Keeper’s Cottage and Groom’s Cottage are attached barn conversions, each with 2 bedrooms on the ground floor and a kitchen/diner/lounge on the first floor…Bailiffs can take virtually unlimited dogs within reason; we have had 8 with no difficulty.” Why are we focussing on hosting dogs so much? Because Higher Tregawne is a regular hunt meet, and Kernow Sabs, Monitors and Animal Rights Team found the North Cornwall Hunt (and their dogs) there again in March 2025. The Hunt started chasing foxes on Higher Tregawne land before spending much of the day trespassing in Forestry England woodland nearby (hunts are banned from entering Forestry England land for so-called ‘trail-hunting) and – unlike the confident claims of Higher Tregawne’s proprietors about not losing dogs – sabs say “they heard [Huntsman] Frain in fields to the north trying to gather his clearly lost and scattered pack for ages. However odd stray hounds appeared in the pines and then two lots of about 8 hounds went through on their own with no clue where they were going and under no control.” The sabs ended their HIT Report writing “It’s time Labour made good on their pledge to end the sham of “trail hunting” and ban hunting with dogs.” Indeed it is…
