A huge rearing facility run by the Holden family and based near Morecambe Bay. Hi-Fly produces Red-legged Partridges and pheasants for shoots across the country. The scale of the operation was shown in an April 2024 Facebook post which included video with the words “all 4 rooms in our rearing building filled and 95,966 RLP chicks on the ground”. Hi-Fly was hit by an Avian Flu outbreak in 2017 (10,000 pheasants were ‘culled’), and conditions inside the rearing buildings were uncovered by an HSA investigation in June 2020. The Holden family also runs the Pilling shoot which suggests that “the day is based on a 300 bird day shooting with a line of Ten” – in other words each shooter will aim to kill 30 birds.
