Heveningham Hall and its estates have been the home of Jon Hunt since 1994. Mr Hunt is a property entrepreneur who founded Foxtons and sold out just before the financial crash in 2007 for more than £365million. Its main claim to fame now is the ‘Wilderness Reserve‘, an area of restored natural lakes, parkland and woods with luxury holiday cottages for rent, and an annual Country Fair. Less well-known is the estate’s shooting connections – possibly because they aren’t actively promoted by Mr Hunt himself. However, the ever-reliable GunsOnPegs website says that “Heveningham Hall is one of the oldest partridge shoots in Britain dating back to the 1800s”, The Hunting Life wrote in 2018 that “The Heveningham Hall Shoot is run over the three Estates of Heveningham Hall, Sibton Park and Cockfield Hall”, and while BASC lists the estate it suggests there no upcoming shoots at the time of writing (just a week before the pheasant killing season starts again). Shooting certainly was taking place on the Estate long after it was bought by Mr Hunt, but if the Estate no longer hosts shooting we will of course remove this listing…
